The 10-Minute Autumn Face, Step by Step
Five products, one brush, ten minutes. This is built for the mornings where the realistic alternative is doing nothing at all.
Why autumn changes the order
Skin gets drier as the weather turns, and makeup that sat perfectly well in August starts to cling to dry patches and separate across the cheeks. The fix is mostly about sequencing rather than buying new products.
The five steps
1. Moisturise, then wait
Two full minutes, genuinely. The majority of autumn foundation problems are simply foundation applied onto moisturiser that has not finished absorbing. Use the time to do your hair.
2. Sheer base, centre outward
Start at the centre of the face and blend outward, skipping the jawline and hairline entirely. Those areas need almost nothing, and product there is what creates a visible edge.
3. Cream blush before powder
Placed higher on the cheek than feels natural, blended up toward the temple. Cream first is not a preference – powder laid down first creates a barrier, and cream over the top will drag and go patchy.
4. Brows, then lashes
Brows before mascara. They frame the entire face, and if you run out of time this is the step that actually mattered.
5. Lip in the same family as the blush
Not matching exactly – the same family. A berry blush with a berry-adjacent lip looks considered; a berry blush with a coral lip looks like two separate decisions.

What to stop doing
Setting powder across the whole face. Powder only where you genuinely get shine, which for most people is the centre of the forehead and the chin. Everywhere else it just emphasises dryness.
